Annapurna Treks Nepal

Annapurna Treks Nepal: Choices of Annapurna Trekking Packages

Known as the "Goddess of Harvests" and an avatar of Goddess Durga, the Annapurna trekking region is situated in the western part of Nepal. It is the second most popular trekking area in Nepal, after the Everest treks. Spread across two zones of Nepal—Gandaki and Dhaulagiri—this region encompasses six districts: Baglung, Kaski, Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, and Myagdi. The entire Annapurna trekking area covers approximately 400 km, including the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, and the Kali Gandaki River Valley.

Annapurna refers to the 10th highest mountain in the world, Annapurna I (8,091 m). Trekking in this region requires a trekking permit, controlled by the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP). To manage this, there are checkpoints in Besisahar, Pothana, Birethanti, Beni, and Jomsom. Major treks in the Annapurna trekking region include the Annapurna Circuit trek, Annapurna Base Camp trek, and the whole Annapurna trek. One of the shorter and most famous treks is to Poon Hill (3,210 m), located at Ghorepani, which can be undertaken by most trekkers. Two new trekking areas within the Annapurna sanctuary, the Mardi Himal trek and Khopra Ridge trek, have also gained popularity.

The Annapurna Circuit trek, approximately 230-240 km long, is a 21-day special itinerary prepared by Nepal Trekking Tourism & Adventure (NETTA). This trek includes a hike to Tilicho Lake, known as the worlds highest altitude lake at 4,949 m, and the Kali Gandaki Gorge, recognized as the deepest gorge in the world. The route can also connect with the Manaslu Circuit trek after crossing the Larkya La pass, the Dhaulagiri Circuit trek at Tukuche, and the Mustang trek at Jomsom or Kagbeni.

Key highlights of the Annapurna treks include Manang, Muktinath Temple, Tatopani (hot springs), Ghorepani, Ghandruk, Chhomrong, Jomsom, Kagbeni (entry point to the Upper Mustang trek), and Tukuche. The Annapurna Circuit trek takes trekkers to the popular high pass, Thorong La Pass (5,416 m), starting with a private or local bus from Besisahar. Most treks in Annapurna start and end in Pokhara, a beautiful city known for its lakes and mountains, as well as being a popular destination for honeymooners and travelers. Pokhara is located about 200 km west of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. Travelers can connect between Pokhara and Kathmandu via tourist bus, local bus, private vehicle, or regular domestic flights throughout the day. Except for some budget treks in Annapurna, all our Annapurna trekking packages include domestic flights for comfortable travel, saving a whole day of driving.

Nepal Trekking Tourism & Adventure, a local professional Sherpa trekking operator based in Kathmandu, offers 18 special comprehensive trekking packages, including luxury Annapurna Base Camp treks and luxury Annapurna view treks. The popular trekking option in the Annapurna sanctuary is also accessible via helicopter for the Annapurna Base Camp trek. The shortest trek in the Annapurna region is the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, while the most recent and famous short trek is the Mardi Himal trek.

The best months for trekking in the Annapurna region are from October to mid-December during the fall season and from March to May in the spring season. However, all treks in Annapurna can be undertaken throughout the year.

Below are 18 specially designed trekking packages in the Annapurna region of Nepal, prepared by NETTA to offer full comfort, safety, and an enjoyable experience for every trekker.
