Everest Treks Nepal

EVEREST TREKS NEPAL: "The King of All Trekking in the World"

Situated in the Solukhumbu district of Province 1 and the Sagarmatha zone of Nepal, Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepali, meaning "Forehead of the Sky." In Tibetan, it is called Chomolungma, meaning "Mother Goddess of the Universe." In 1865, Sir George Everest, the Surveyor General of India, officially named it Everest. The first successful ascent of Mount Everest occurred on May 29, 1953, when Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit. Since then, trekking to Everest and other of the worlds highest mountains has opened up in Nepal.

The Everest region is home to legendary Sherpas and rare species such as the snow leopard, musk deer, and red panda. The main gateway for all treks in this area is Sagarmatha National Park, established in 1976 as Nepals first national park. Covering an area of 1,148 km⊃2;, it spans altitudes from 2,845 m to 8,848 m.

The Solukhumbu district serves as the main trekking hub for Everest, divided into two areas: the Khumbu Everest region and the lower Everest region (Solu). Lukla Airport is the primary gateway for all Everest trekking packages, including the famous Everest Base Camp trek and climbs of peaks like Island Peak, Lobuche Peak, and Mera Peak.

The Khumbu Valley offers two main trekking areas: Gokyo Valley and Everest Base Camp Valley, connected by the popular high pass, Cho La Pass. Namche Bazaar, located at an altitude of 3,440 m, is the main Sherpa settlement, featuring fine trekking lodges and guesthouses. Trekkers typically spend two days acclimatizing here to prevent altitude sickness. From Namche, one trail leads directly to the Everest Base Camp trekking route, while another connects to famous peaks like Island Peak and Lobuche Peak. Gokyo Ri is another notable trekking trail that connects to Everest Base Camp via Cho La Pass.

Three high passes dominate the Everest trekking packages in the Khumbu Valley: Renjo La Pass, Cho La Pass, and Kongma La Pass, all above 5,300 m. The Everest High Pass trek is one of the most demanding and rewarding trekking experiences in Sagarmatha National Park.

Nepal Trekking Tourism & Adventure (NETTA) is a local trekking agency in Nepal, operated by experienced Sherpa guides with over 25 years of expertise in the Everest trekking region. Our trekking choices range from budget to luxury packages, including helicopter treks. The selection of treks depends on the trekkers available time, budget, and interests, with all packages carefully designed to meet various trekking and climbing needs.

In the early years, when trekking in Nepal was just beginning, many trekkers journeyed to the Everest region from Kathmandu. By 1976, trekking routes from Jiri became popular, offering a classic trekking experience in the Khumbu and lower Solu valleys. For those seeking the best acclimatization and stunning views, traditional treks to Everest Base Camp remain popular. Trekking in the lower Everest region is less frequented but culturally rich, naturally beautiful, and spiritually significant. The Holy Lake Trek in this area is highly recommended.

Everest trekking in Nepal is undoubtedly among the most breathtaking experiences in the world today. NETTA offers a variety of trekking packages ranging from 7 to 27 days. A unique experience is trekking to Everest Base Camp during the Mani Rimdu festival, a Buddhist religious celebration held at Tengboche Monastery, located at an altitude of 3,870 m.

The best months for trekking in the Everest region are October to December in the fall season and March to May in the spring season. Some treks can also operate in the winter and summer months.

We offer a total of 26 different Everest trekking packages, allowing trekkers to choose the option that best fits their budget, timeframe, and requirements.

We wish you a great trekking experience with us, and we are committed to taking excellent care of your trekking holiday in Everest!
