Homestay in Nepal is all about staying with local people in their homes, experiencing the authentic way of life in Kathmandu. You will feel like a local, eat like a local, and live like a local – it’s truly one of the best travel experiences.
By staying with Sherpa and Nepali families, you’ll have the opportunity to make close friends and even become part of a local family. It’s an incredible chance to meet local people and learn about their cultures, languages, and traditions.
At our homestay in Kathmandu, you’ll also have the unique opportunity to eat traditional Nepali dishes and learn how to prepare them yourself.
Additionally, staying at a homestay can save you money – it is typically much cheaper than staying in hotels in the city. Plus, the food you’ll enjoy at a homestay is often healthier and more authentic than what you would find at restaurants or hotels.

"We stayed for two nights at Sherpa Sweet Home based on the recommendation of a friend who had visited Nepal and met Pasang Sherpa and his family. They own a beautiful home in a quiet, lovely location in Kathmandu. The homestay is a bit off the main road, which makes it peaceful and perfect for anyone looking for a quiet place to stay.
Pasang and his family prepared delicious dinners and breakfasts for us. They taught us how to make Nepali meals like dal bhat, momo, and traditional Sherpa dishes. The room was comfortable, with a hot shower and an attached bathroom. We had plenty of drinking water, tea, and coffee during our stay—all free of charge. We ate together with Pasang's family, and they were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had such a wonderful time with them in Kathmandu, and they also helped arrange our city tours.
We look forward to returning!"

"This homestay is fantastic! One of my best homestay experiences in Kathmandu. We were amazed by the outstanding hospitality.
Our stay at Sherpa Sweet Home was truly memorable, thanks to the warm service provided by the owners. The Sherpa food they cooked for us, especially the potato bread and vegetable cheese momos, was absolutely delicious. While it’s a homestay and you can't expect the vast menu of a 5-star hotel, the food they served was at a level above what you'd get at a luxury hotel—authentic, hygienic, and organic. The homestay focuses more on fresh vegetables than meat products, which is great for a healthy lifestyle.
The location is perfect. All of Kathmandu’s major monuments are easily accessible by taxi, and some can even be reached by local bus. Shops, cafes, restaurants, hospitals, banks, and ATMs are all within walking distance. You can take a 5-7 minute walk to enjoy coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and shopping.
Our king-sized bedroom was spacious, comfortable, and clean, with an attached bathroom. The bathroom was fully stocked with towels, shampoo, toothpaste, and all necessary cleaning supplies. We also had a water boiler, large bottles of mineral water, and a selection of teas (green tea, black tea, masala tea) along with coffee, all ready to drink at any time. Our room had a balcony view, which was lovely.
The breakfast options were great—eggs, fried potatoes, vegetables, toast, or pancakes. They could serve it in our room or in the common dining area. The hosts were very organized, making sure everything was on time for both breakfast and dinner."
