Kathmandu valley one day Hiking tour

The Kathmandu Valley one-day hiking tour starts from Kathmandu city. This hiking tour covers beautiful high viewpoints of the Kathmandu Valley, including Shivapuri National Park. This special day tour combines cultural visits to Buddhist monasteries, stupas, and the temple of Lord Vishnu, known as Budhanilkantha Temple (or Narayanthan Temple), located in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu.

The Buddhist monasteries included in this tour are Kapan Gumba, Fulari Gumba, and Nagi Gumba. "Gumba" is the Nepali word for Buddhist monastery. All three monasteries are significant, and Nagi Gumba is located at an altitude of approximately 1,650 meters in the northern part of the Kathmandu Valley, within Shivapuri National Park at Tarebhir.

The Kathmandu Valley day hiking route starts at Kapan Monastery and continues to Fulari Monastery. We begin the tour at 7:30 AM from Kathmandu city, driving to Kapan Monastery, which takes about a 40-minute drive from Thamel. We first visit Kapan Monastery and then walk to Fulari Monastery. The hiking route takes us through the Jagdol area; the hike is easy with gentle ups and downs through pine trees. Once we reach the resort area just below Tarebhir, we can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Kathmandu Valley from east to north to south to west. We will stop for a lunch break and take photos before continuing our walk to Nagi Gumba (the monastery of nuns, also known as Ani Gumba), entering Shivapuri National Park. We will visit this nun monastery and then walk down to Budhanilkantha Temple (or Narayanthan Temple), famous for the sleeping statue of Lord Vishnu.

The total hiking distance is about 22 km from Kapan to Tarebhir and from Nagi Gumba to Budhanilkantha Temple. We will visit Narayanthan Temple at Budhanilkantha. This tour involves approximately 7-8 hours of hiking in Shivapuri National Park, making it a perfect day hike in the Kathmandu Valley. After the tour of Narayanthan Temple, we will drive back to the hotel, completing the one-day hiking tour.
