Trip Introduction

Mera Peak Climbing - 20 Days: "Experience the Highest Trekking Peak Climb"

Located in the Sagarmatha zone of Nepal within the Mahalangur section, Mera Peak is one of the most popular trekking peaks, known for its less technical climbing. It requires a trekking peak permit issued under the supervision of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). The climbing trip features three main summits: Mera Peak North (6476m), Mera Peak Central (6461m), and Mera Peak South (6065m). This region was first explored by British expeditions in the early 1950s, with Mera Peak North first ascended by a French expedition in 1973, and Mera Peak Central seeing its first ascent by Jimmy Roberts in 1953.

From the summit of Mera Peak, climbers can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of some of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.

With 25 years of experience, NETTA is a professional local Sherpa company that provides expert local guides for Mera Peak climbs, ensuring a 99% summit success rate. Our specially designed 21-day all-inclusive Mera Peak itinerary features unique trekking trails at both the beginning and end of the expedition. Unlike many itineraries that follow the same route to Mera Peak and back to Lukla, we prioritize optimal acclimatization and a richer cultural experience by starting via the Panggom route and returning via Zhatra La Pass.

To ensure safety and better acclimatization, we include two acclimatization days before the summit and an extra buffer day for weather and technical challenges. Except for two days of tented camping during the summit attempt, we provide the best available lodge facilities along the trail, with flights to and from Lukla.

Our gradual ascent allows for proper rest at lower elevations while gaining altitude. Khare serves as the last lodge where we stay for two nights to acclimatize, check climbing gear, and prepare for the summit. Our guides provide thorough briefings and training on using ropes and boots for 2-3 days before the ascent.

Mera Peak expedition with NETTA is one of our best-selling trekking peaks, offering competitive pricing and exceptional service. In response to our trekkers’ requests, we now offer a shorter 4-day Mera Peak expedition from Khare to Khare, allowing trekkers to walk up to Khare and then join the full-board climbing package.

For those seeking more challenges, we also organize a longer Mera Peak climbing package that concludes with the Amphu Labtsa Pass to the Everest Base Camp trekking route, connecting at Dingboche and following the lower trail of Namche to Lukla. We provide options to summit both Mera Peak and Island Peak in one trip, including the strenuous Amphu Labtsa Pass.

NETTA handles all climbing permits through the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) for Mera Peak expeditions. The climbing permit fees are structured as follows:

  • Spring Season (March to May): USD 250
  • Autumn Season (September to November): USD 125
  • Summer and Winter (June to August & December to February): USD 70

Our package includes both the Mera Peak climbing permit and the fees for your climbing guide, ensuring comprehensive support and care throughout your expedition. With NETTA, you can focus on enjoying your adventure while we take care of the logistics.

Why Mera Peak Climbing Trip is Recommended

Mera Peak is highly recommended for several reasons:

  1. Non-Technical Climb: As one of Nepals trekking peaks, Mera Peak does not require previous climbing experience or advanced technical skills. This makes it accessible for trekkers who are mentally prepared and physically fit.

  2. Inclusivity: The climb is suitable for a wide range of age groups and abilities. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or a first-timer, you can successfully summit Mera Peak by following the well-structured itinerary provided by NETTA.

  3. Stunning Views: Reaching the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views of some of the highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, and Lhotse, making it a rewarding experience.

  4. Proper Itinerary: NETTA provides a carefully crafted itinerary that ensures adequate acclimatization, safety, and a gradual ascent. This increases the likelihood of a successful summit.

  5. Cultural Experience: The trek to Mera Peak takes you through beautiful villages and diverse landscapes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rich culture of the Sherpa people.

In summary, Mera Peak is an ideal choice for trekkers looking to experience high-altitude climbing without the need for extensive technical knowledge, making it an excellent option for adventurers of all levels.
