Trip Introduction

Nagarjun hill is located in Shivapuri National park; it is a forest hill area lies in west of Kathmandu. We have to drive to gate of Shivapuri National park and start walk up to hill about 2 hrs. You will see full Kathmandu valley and on clear day, you will see mountain ranges including Mount Everest. This is also a holy hill for Buddhist pilgrimage, a clean hill side for worship and meditation or offer prayer flags at top of Jamacho. It can take about 1.30 min to come down the road to get car to city, this is one of hiking, walking for refreshment or warm up hike before long trekking.

Named by Nagarjuna buddha, located at altitude of approximately 2128m, also known as Jamacho hill, where there is one Buddhist monastery and statue are built, Nagarjun day hiking is one of the best hiking options for daily physical fitness as well as enjoy amazing greenery walking through forest of Shivapuri national Park. The hiking trail from entry gate to top of Nagarjun hill is 5 km and return same way 5 km, total of 10 km forest hiking trail inside national park offers perfect hiking experience to see 360-degree panoramic views of Kathmandu valley as well as fantastic view of Himalayas including mount Everest in clear day. The best weather season for hiking tour of Nagarjun (Jamacho) hill is October to December and March to June.
