GOVT. REGD. NO. 90197/068/069 | TOURISM REGD. NO. 1585Historically, the first recorded mountain climbing expedition in Nepal took place in 1950 when a French team led by Maurice Herzog successfully summited Annapurna. This was followed by the first ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary. Since then, trekking and peak climbing have become officially recognized activities in Nepal. The Government of Nepal has listed 1,310 mountains for climbing, with 27 peaks requiring permits from the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Additionally, there are free-permit trekking peaks in Nepal, such as Tharpu Chuli (Tent Peak) and Yala Peak.
Nepal Trekking Tourism & Adventure is a well-established local trekking company with 25 years of experience, organizing all necessary permits for trekking and expedition peaks in Nepal. To cater to climbers varying budgets and interests, we offer budget-friendly peak climbing packages for popular trekking peaks like Island Peak and Mera Peak. Our packages are designed to support trekkers and climbers in summiting these peaks in a 4-day itinerary from base camp to base camp.
Trekking in Nepal, especially to the base camps of the Himalayas, is an increasingly popular holiday choice. Climbing trekking peaks after reaching base camps is considered one of the most rewarding experiences of a lifetime. Nepal is renowned in South Asia for its trekking and peak climbing opportunities. Trekking to base camps or high passes is termed adventure trekking, while climbing peaks above 5,700m (18,700 ft) is often classified as an expedition or peak climbing.
The government of Nepal issues two types of mountain expedition permits: one for the 33 peaks managed by the NMA, known as NMA trekking peaks, and another for all other mountains, including the Mount Everest expedition, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Nepal government. Trekking to the base camp of Mount Everest and climbing Island Peak are among the most popular choices for climbers, serving as excellent training for larger expeditions like Everest.
Mera Peak, recognized as one of the highest trekking peaks in Nepal, offers a less technical climb and is a rewarding experience. At Nepal Trekking Tourism & Adventure, our expert Sherpa guides, with decades of experience, are dedicated to making your dream of summiting Nepal’s stunning peaks a reality. Join us for the expedition of a lifetime!
